Privacy Policy

OSA and SPIE are dedicated to preserving users' on-line privacy. This website does not collect personally identifying information from users except as needed for technical administration of the website and database. The Societies do not rent, sell, or distribute personally identifiable information collected from this website.

Collection of User Information: In general, this website gathers information about users as a group, such as which areas users visit most frequently and what services users access the most. This website automatically collects information about users' IP address, browser type, domain name, date and time of access, and general location (country of access). The Societies only uses such data in the aggregate to analyze site traffic and to determine what is most relevant to users.

To administer each institutional listing in the database, the Societies require personally identifying information from those individuals authorized to edit the institution's listing and to serve as a point of contact for potential students, including the individual's name, business address, e-mail address, and fax and telephone numbers. This information is used only for the purposes of database security and to permit contact from interested students.

This website uses cookies to facilitate login and search sessions. A user's personal and login information are connected only for the purpose of providing "forgot password" service.

The Societies may also request additional information on a voluntary basis from users, such as information regarding interests, opinion of this website, and the types of products and information in which users are interested. Such information will be used only to guide website improvements.

Disclosure of User Information: The Societies do not disclose personal information submitted by or regarding users of this website to any outside parties, unless required by law or requested to do so by the user.

Accuracy of Information: The Societies seek to ensure the accuracy of all institutional information. Users may access, review, and edit their institutional account information at any time by logging in and going to their account page.
